Helical Eel Ramps

Lakeside Engineering, Inc. developed the helical eel ramp concept as a means of providing eel passage at locations where space was too limited to install traditional linear ramps. An additional benefit is in the variation of slope along the radius of the helical ramp. This provides greater passage opportunity for different size eels, whose climbing abilities and preferences may vary.

The climbing substrate may be cast integral into the floor of the helical ramp, or applied afterward. We have done designs that facilitate removal of the helical ramp during the winter season.
