ABS Climbing Substrate

This substrate was developed in cooperation between the USGS Conte Lab and Lakeside Engineering. It is known as a hybrid style substrate for its ability to pass a range of eels from glass eels through elvers. It is shaped in a shallow Vee, with its low point along the ramp centerline. This allows for flexibility in ramp transport flows and creates a wetted edge for eels to travel along.

Lakeside Engineering fabricates the substrate in 36" long panels and incorporates a tongue to glue panels together for a continuous watertight seal. The panels are 18" wide and designed to fit with 3" channel sides. See photo below.
